I'm 13 and I chickened out on buying deodorant with my dad?!?

k so i'm 13 and this is going to sound sooo weird but my mom has only bought me deodorant once. i always use hers or my sisters deodorant without telling anyone. soo today i went to the drugstore with my dad and i bought a bunch of stuff. i was planning on getting deodorant. i was like "OK IM GOING TO DO THIS!" but then i got to the deodorant aisle and he was standing RIGHT next to me looking at what i got. so i just got a loofah and said that i was done. im really disappointed in myseld lol...but am i weird for being too nervous to buy deodorant with my dad there?

sweetie - it's ok to get embarassed about women's items like period pads, but deoderant?





How much more embarassed are you going to be when your dad announces in front of a bunch of people that he can smell your body odor???





Deoderant is something EVERYONE uses - there is no reason at all to be embarassed about buying it in front of anyone, including your dad.
Reply:haha im the same way. im too scared to buy razor blades for my legs and makeup with my dad. i just know he doesnt want me to grow up, so i feel kind of weird buying that stuff.





next time, just take it, put it inn the cart, and be on your way. if he says anythung just be like 'what, you dont use deoterant? thats gross."





or, when you are close to checkout, be like 'omg! i forgot the tomatoes [or something like that] mom kept bugging me to get them, so while you checkout, ill go get them!"





then get your deoterant and slip it in with the gorceries when hes not looking.

Reply:lol hmm go with your sis or mom? Or even close friends or cousins....its really not a big deal! You could even go alone...might make you feel a bit independent!
Reply:it is kind of a thing that can be private, but I was fine with it when i was like 11 or 12... i still am! i am around the same age as you-kind of, just shy a few yrs.- as you and it's normal to be embarassed but everyone uses deoderant and its not bad, its good, cuz otherwise the world would smell like poop. haha. Dont be nervous, hes your dad and he knows that girls need deoderant. if your mom goes shopping then get some with her and just work up the nerve to buy stuff like deoderant around your dad,and then from there on it will be like a piece of cake!

Reply:Its nothing to be embarrassed about almost every one wears deodorant. Think of it this way would you rather some one see you buy deodorant or have some one comment on a funny smell coming from you.
Reply:Don't worry you aren't weird! The first time i bought deodorant i was with my dad, it can feel kinda weird and awkward at first but you just need to overcome that feeling for the sake of hygiene. Just next time just suck it up and get it.

Reply:Things like this happen...you are just a normal 13 year old, don't be so hard on yourself. But I promise you, your dad wouldn't care what kind of deodorant you picked out. He was just waiting for you to decide. I bet he was thinking of a bunch of other things while you thought he was watching you.





I know when I take my kids shopping, they have no clue that i'm worrying over all kinds of things....like oh, did I remember to pay my water bill, or what am I forgetting....i know i'm forgetting to get something...and on and on and on. Believe me sweetie...us old parents have so much crap to think about...and deodorant isn't one of them.
Reply:ok just buy it, it will make you smell better how bout that and its not like ur buying condoms or any thing just buy it face the facts ur arm pits are gonna smell bad and if u are really that uncomfortable get ur sister to just buy more at one time and give her the money for it

Reply:It's not weird to have been nervous. Just be sure next time (or soon) to try and overcome that nervousness.
Reply:nope...I'm imberassed to buy alot of things with my dad. plus one time I even needed tampons and he was standing right next to me...so it's not the worst thing that could happen. next time just go to the store with him and say I'll be right back I'm gonna go get something. and then just do it on your own. Reply:A little baking soda under the arms will help if you are out...it's not a big deal to buy deodorant.....nothing to be nervous about at all!
