Reaction to Deodorant?

For awhile now I%26#039;ve been breaking out in one of my armpits. I would start off occasionaly having infected hairs. Then one day I got a boil which was disgusting and it hurt. And now I%26#039;m breaking out and getting infected hairs at the same time. I%26#039;ve switched to a deodorant that is for sensitive skin and that didn%26#039;t help at all. And when I take a shower I wash under my arms with antibacterial soap. What is going on? Should I switch to one of those all natural deodorants? And can the infected hairs be caused by not using a sharp enough razor? Would it be helpful to switch to something like Nair.

Reaction to Deodorant?
This is a multi step answer but bear with me. First remember to wash your arm pits every morning and every night. Second only use a twin blade razor and shave with the growth in only one direction. Third use a %26quot;smoothing%26quot; product like Dove Deodorant it really is amazing.

The problem is shaving in multidirection may make it look good but causes unsightly bumps and even infection as do those many blade units. Additionally %26quot;Nair%26quot; and other depilatories burn hair with a chemical and can cause the hair to %26quot;ball%26quot; at the burn point - again causing bumps and possible infection. There are products like Veet, which are designed for bikini and underarm but you are known to cause allergic reaction in 35% of users which to me is too high a risk.

For the current infection use a good soap like Castile to balance the PH and Witch Hazel to clear up the infection quickly.

Good Luck!
Reply:Use a really good razor %26amp; thow it away right after. Reusing one even if cleaned is not good. Nair is bad to use especially if you have sensitive skin because it can leave severe burns.

Right after bathing, dab some baby powder under your arms. It will help lower the moister %26amp; aid in drying. Once very dry, use the deoderant. Try to avoid perfumed or flower scents as they might cause skin irritation. It is a good idea to cleans %26amp; use deoderant twice a day (morning %26amp; night). deoderant doesn%26#039;t last the same for all people, so once it stops working, breakouts occur from persparation.
Reply:You need to discontinue both the deodorant and the deodorant soap until you%26#039;re armpits are back to normal. My dermatologist put me on Dove soap only (original) because it leaves no chemicals on your body. Make sure you get the original and not the new scented or whatever.

Once you%26#039;re completely cleared up, then try the hypo-allergenic deodorant. Unfortunately, I can only use deodorant about every 3 days cause I still get irritation.

Good Luck
Reply:the most popular reason why armpit hairs may be infected is the razor. it HAS to be disinfected each time!! or just clean it REALLYYYY WELL. and yes, it needs to be sharp!! try not using deodorant for a while; yes, i know it%26#039;s a lot of give up but either smell bad for a few days or have infected skin for the rest of your life. try taking care of your sensitive armpit skkin as well as the rest of your body%26#039;s skin. put natural lotion on your armpit after you take a shower, and dont apply deodorant for awhile. see if your skin heals. if it gets better it may be something with your deodorant. also, try to wear deodorant as less as possible. once you get home, take a shower and put NATURL lotion on armpit skin. that skin is SO SENSITIVE b/c it%26#039;s constantly shaved on by a razor!! and nair doesnt help so much for armpits b/c the chemicals in nair is a little too haarsh for sensitive armpit skin
Reply:Use a different deodorant. I think it%26#039;s the deodorant thats causing the breaking out. After you try and different deodorant and you still have infected hairs, switch to Nair, it%26#039;s awesome.
Reply:I would stay away from nair. I used it once %26amp; my legs got bloody raw %26amp; had to go to Dr. I would use either baking soda or a deodorant stone for a deodorant. It does the job %26amp; you will not get raw from it either. I can%26#039;t use any deodorants except this. Give it a try.
Reply:It sounds like it your underarm hair, instead of shaving them completely off, maybe you might want to cut them down really low, leaving the hair intact. If you cut it low enough no one will notice it. I wouldn%26#039;t use Nair, it may make it worst. You may have to wax under your arms, but definitely see a dermatologist about the boils, it may be something you%26#039;re eating or a more serious problem than hair or deodorant.
