My sister told me my seven year old niece has BO under her arms. That she was going to buy her deodorant. Wouldn%26#039;t the deodorant clog her pores or something?
Is wearing deodorant at age serven harmful?
No. I wouldn%26#039;t think so at all. My boys have been wearing deoderant for a while and I have one that is 6. The other is 11. We%26#039;ve had not had any reactions, deoderant seems to be pretty soft of your skin. I think it should be fine for a seven year old.
Reply:Deodorant, no. Anti-perspirant I have read comnflicting things on. Deodorant only controls odor. My now 12 year old NEEDED it really early too.
Reply:No, but it%26#039;s not necessary, unless her 7 yr old is going through puberty early. Also, if it%26#039;s anti-persperant, it can clog pores and it%26#039;s been linked to breast cancer.
Reply:No my daughter is 8 and I am an M.A. if deoderant was going to something to my daughter then I wouldnt put it on her and I would definitely know. Children are starting puberty earlier and earlier and this could be a tale tail sign!!!
Reply:No she will be fine. Deodorant can%26#039;t be harmful but she may want to change her hygiene methods first, (changing soaps, when she bathes, shower vs. bath etc.).
Reply:No, deodorant is safe to use. However, there is new research that says that the aluminum used in regular deodorant is bad for you - so you might want to look into non-aluminum deodorant, like you can find in a health-foods store.
Reply:There is a type of all-natural crystal deodorant that does not contain aluminum. This type of deodorant is safe for any age. It%26#039;s more expensive than traditional deodorants, but the crystal lasts for a long time. I do think that your niece should be wearing deodorant if she has BO. Otherwise, the other children in school will tease her.
Reply:They make teen deodorant, see if that helps. No, it won%26#039;t hurt her.
Reply:no, its about the right age to start. Just make sure you use something that is not too harsh...like a basic roll-on from secret...non of that extra dry stuff.
Reply:Just make sure you check the ingredients; do NOT buy any of it with %26#039;aluminum%26#039; in it - aluminum is one of the contributors to Alzheimers.
Reply:No. She%26#039;ll be fine. I started wearing deodorant in Kindergarten and I%26#039;m fine.
Reply:It might be too strong for her skin. She should try baby powder.
